I am participating once again with Team BRCA1 Strong in the 2022 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
When you make a gift to my Walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge research and compassionate patient care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
As a breast cancer survivor who carries the BRCA1 genetic mutation that increased my chances of getting both breast and ovarian cancer, I know firsthand the work of the Dana Farber as a former patient there. My late daughter Sarah's breast cancer was diagnosed at the Dana, and my sister, June Black, remains a patient there after a recurrence of breast cancer after many years. (She's doing fine now!) And June and I have passed this gene on to our daughters, who are taking proactive measures to protect themselves.
Our Lynch family has lost an aunt and two cousins to breast cancer. And our family history probably includes my Grandfather Lynch, who died of cancer in his "chest" decades before this genetic mutation was discovered. And many other family members and friends have had their lives impacted by all kinds of cancer, as well.
Dana Farber researchers are working on cures and treatments for all kinds of genetic and other cancers. You generosity to our 2022 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk can make a difference for future generations of many families!
Thank you for supporting our fundraising efforts. Together, we can defy cancer!
