This year I am walking the entire marathon route in the 2019 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk alongside an amazing team to raise money for those affected by cancer.
My best friend's mom, Michelle Garber, who is family to me, was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer a few years ago. She has been fighting this terrible disease with grace and truly exemplifies the meaning of strong. She is a beautiful woman both inside and out, and I want to do everything in my power to support her.
A wonderful young man named PJ was taken from us way too soon this past December by cancer. I remember meeting PJ for the first time at Boston Children's Hospital at the conclusion of the Jimmy Fund Walk last year. His smile could light up a stadium! I cannot wait to walk in his memory and smile throughout the whole journey just like he would have.
This year, I am walking the entire 26.2 miles because 13.1 just wasn't enough last year. This disease deserves awareness, and if having some sore legs for a few days is what it takes, then so be it! I look forward to being a part of such an amazing team and taking steps to fight cancer.
Let's row the boat!
