WHY I'M FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER
In April of 2016 I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. After encouragement of a dear friend, I sought out a second opinion at Dana Farber and began 9 months of treatment.
This will be the fifth year that my family and friends will walk. It’s a cause near and dear to our hearts. If not for the comprehensive, compassionate and cutting edge treatment I would not be here today. As a patient, I endured 22 rounds of chemotherapy, 6 weeks of daily radiation, 5 surgical procedures which included a double mastectomy and removal of ovaries and Fallopian tubes. 5 plus years later I can say I’m thriving.
This year this walk is even more important to my family. My mother recently passed away from pancreatic cancer. This diagnosis has solidified my commitment to helping to fundraise and help Dana Farber do the great things it does. Through their continued research, I pray for a world with no cancer or at the very least a world where cancer treatment is less invasive and more tolerable to patients. The Jimmy Fund helps these efforts. It allows doctors and scientist continue to work round the clock researching and finding the best treatment options.
Please consider a small donation to a very worthy cause. I can’t think of a family that hasn’t in someway been touched by this terrible disease. We feel fortunate to live close to this wonderful institution, but the work that they do is far reaching. People from around the country and world access care here. The research and developments made make a difference everywhere.
Although this year we can only virtually walk, my team will be mapping out a route and hitting the pavement October 3. If you can’t walk with us, please consider a small donation.
Thank you for supporting my Jimmy Fund Walk fundraising efforts. Together, we can conquer cancer!
