We are participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
As some of you may know, each year we walk to honor Carol McLellan. Carol, also known as mom, nana, sister, and aunt, battled ovarian cancer for four years. Although she was diagnosed at stage 4, she surpassed her life expectancy thanks to Dr. Ursula Matulonis and her fantastic team.
Each year, approximately 22,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the United States and about 15,000 American women die from the disease. These numbers are underscored by the sobering fact that currently there is no reliable screening test for the early detection of ovarian cancer.
OVARIAN CANCER BRIGADE'S goal is to raise $60K for research which will be directed to The Dr. Ursula Matulonis Ovarian Cancer Research Fund at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Matulonis is dedicated to research, early detection, quality of life and ultimately and ideally-- a cure for ovarian cancer which if caught early enough is a highly treatable disease.
Join us in providing the resources and hope for early detection technologies. Every dollar goes to Dr. Matulonis who gave us the gift of time.
Thank you for supporting our participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
