Cancer is defined as a disease caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body. So why is it so difficult to find a way to control these abnormal cells? Funding cancer research, clinical trials and providing compassionate care for those who are fighting now can help those diagnosed in the future - and potentially find a cure.
I've witnessed many loved ones fight for their lives because of Cancer, some have won the battle, while others have lost and are now forever in our hearts. I lost my best friend and sole mate to Pancreatic Cancer in March of 2020 and have decided to dedicate time to help find a cure by supporting the annual Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund fundraising event to help other families who continue to fight and ultimately find a cure.
Dana-Farber is one of the leading Cancer research institutes which is why I have chosen to participate in the 2022 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk: Your Way presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and compassionate patient care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
I am proud to be a member of team CAD-dle Ranchers! In total, the team has raised over $144,384 thousand dollars since 2014! Each year, the team walks the 26.2 mile journey to help find a cure! There dedication, perseverance and compassion to finding a cure is a model for which I am grateful to be part of.
To donate is easy, you can write a check to “The Jimmy Fund” or remain anonymous via cash, check, or Venmo (@Linda-Riendeau-1).
