Those who know me know that this is an organization and cause that is very close to my heart.
I fundraise and walk each year as a member of Team Tara in honor and in memory of my husband, Jim Collins, who passed away in 2019 after a fifteen month battle with Stage IV metastatic colon cancer. He was 45 years old.
After Jim's death I struggled to find my purpose and to establish a new direction for my life. I knew I wanted to be someone that Jim would be proud of, while at the same time keeping his legacy and spirit alive.
I wanted to give back to Dana-Farber to thank all of the countless doctors and medical professionals that treated and cared for him.
Most of all I want for someone to find a cure for colon cancer, all cancer really, so no family has to endure this same pain and loss that our family has.
I am participating in the 2021 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk: Your Way presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and compassionate patient care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
All funds raised by our team are designated to Dr. Kimmie Ng and her groundbreaking metastatic colorectal cancer research. It is our hope that someday soon there will be a cure for this devastating disease.
I realize that this has been a difficult year financially for many people so please know that any and all donations are welcome, and will go directly to help patients currently undergoing treatment at DFCI.
