I hope this note finds everyone well. I am writing this to share with everyone why I am walking this year for The Jimmy Fund. My team, The Giambanco Foundation has participated in this walk for five years now. (www.TheGiambancoFoundation.org).
This year my family and I are walking to support those with cancer including my papa that we recently lost a couple months ago. In 2007 he was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) which is a precursor to Leukemia. He has had many visits to The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and he was very well taken care of. We are so thankful for everything that these people did for him and what they did to make him strong. For a while he was in remission but in 2021 he was back at Dana-Farber in Boston where they told us the MDS progressed to Leukemia. The doctors gave him a year. This was very hard on myself and the family as he was also the one to make us laugh and lift up our spirits.
This year, after a two-year hiatus, the Dana-Farber / Jimmy Fund Marathon Walk will be in person on October 2nd. My nana and papa would always meet us as a team at the finish line, but I know my papa will be there in spirit this year.
I am raising this money to help those with cancer and to hopefully help them find a cure. Anything is appreciated.
Papa, I know you will be watching over us during this walk and i wish we could see you at the finish line. I miss you so much and i love you💙💙
