Team ED is at it again! This is my 5th year fundraising for the Jimmy Fund, and my 4th Jimmy Fund Walk since 2017. This cause is a very personal one for me, as my husband Ed has been battling multiple myeloma since 2017.
His story began almost 5 years and halfway around the world, with a cough that caused a sacral fracture and led to his shocking, devastating diagnosis. A 7000-mi. air ambulance transfer and more than 6 weeks at Brigham and Women’s and Spaulding Hospitals was preceded by a traumatic 10-day stay in an Omani hospital, as the fracture occurred while on a Persian Gulf cruise. The weeks and months that followed his diagnosis brought many challenges but also many treatments, including radiation, spinal surgery, chemotherapy, intensive physical therapy, pain injections, bone-strengthening infusions, and an autologous stem cell transplant. And yet, despite all of the challenges, he continues to persevere with a fighter’s tenacity. He is and always will be my hero. To see him today, you would never know the struggles he’s faced these past 4 years. If he can put one foot in front of the other and keep fighting, then so can I.
I am eternally grateful for the treatment advancements made possible by the research done at Dana Farber, but without a cure there is still much more work to be done. Please help me achieve my dream of a cure for cancer.
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and compassionate patient care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my Jimmy Fund Walk fundraising efforts. Together, we can conquer cancer!
