Each year, I walk as a member of Team Todd in loving memory of my incredible brother Todd J. Schwartz, our Toddy boy, who lost his fight against cancer in 2002 at the age of 19. I have now lived the same amount of years without Toddy as I got to have with him and not a days goes by where I don’t miss him. Sometimes it still hits me like a ton of bricks and I have to catch my breath because I still can’t believe he’s gone. This feeling never goes away, and never ever fades.
I walk in memory of my brother, as well as my beloved Auntie Linda who passed away from cancer only a few months after Todd. For my dear friend Jenna’s amazing mother, Lois, who fought this disease with all her might. My brother from another mother and his family who lost their father, John Killelea, to cancer as well. Unfortunately the list goes on and on... I also walk for all those who still fight this horrible disease today. I can only hope that with the efforts of Team Todd and your wonderful generosity, we will soon walk ourselves into a cancer-free future for all.
No one should have to lose a loved one to this disease. And unlike some other charities, 100% of Team Todd funds go directly to important cancer research being done in a lab run by Todd’s doctor and now a member of our family, Dr. Loren Walensky. He is a brilliant man who I would bet every penny I have on as he cracks the case on cancer.
Thank you for your endless generosity over the years, allowing for the enormous strides being made in the Walensky lab. They are closer to a cure every day and with the money we’ve raised thus far, they’ve been able to start actual clinical trials for patients in need with remarkable drugs that will truly change the world. Their discoveries are everything and they can’t do it without us. Please keep giving and please don’t give up hope. We never do and never will. This one’s for you, Toddy. ❤
