I am participating in the 2020 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
Every year, I walk 26.2 miles along the Boston Marathon route in memory of my big brother Todd. When my brother passed away in 2002, my entire world came crashing down. Toddy was my best friend and the middle of our sibling sandwich, leaving my sister, parents and I with no choice but to continue his fight. We could fall apart, or we could become stronger. We are choosing strength and hope.
Todd was the kind of person who never put himself first. He was the most selfless, caring, funny, loving, encouraging person you could ever meet and he lit up every room he entered. He was a shining star that I miss every minute of every day. Todd would dress up like a clown or do magic tricks for the younger patients even on days where he wasn’t feeling great himself. He wanted to give them a reason to smile, amid their own battles with cancer. That’s who my brother was. He imagined a world without cancer but never got a chance to see it himself... so here we are.
Last year, I was fortunate enough to raise the most I’ve ever raised for Team Todd with over $63,000 and over $100,000 raised as a team overall. I couldn’t have done that without all of you. We have to continue Todd’s fight and raise as much money as we can because with these funds, the brilliant Dr. Loren Walensky turns those dollars into hope for so many people. He is the genius behind multiple trials that have had so much success for current patients, giving them the chance at a long life that Toddy didn’t have. 100% of Team Todd funds go directly to Loren’s research lab and that research will find a cure. I am certain of that.
19-years-old is too young to be taken from us, but we can only move forward and work to change the lives of those still fighting. So please give what you can. No one should have to lose their loved ones to this terrible disease... and together, with your generosity and support, I know we can fight this.
Love you, Toddy. ❤
Please give what you can.
