Hi friends and family,
I am participating in the 2024 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk: presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
I am doing this proudly for three important reasons:
1) I am honored to be part of Team Tara, an organization started (and sustained) by my friend Tara Shuman and her amazing team. Tara is a Cancer survivor, and her ability to transform her experiences battling and winning against cancer into exponential impact on the lives of others able to battle (and win!) the fight again cancer is truly remarkable, humbling and inspiring.
2) Importantly, Team Tara’s work also supports critical research into understanding cancer with the hopes of developing new and better treatments and preventions. This year Team Tara fundraising is supporting the efforts of Dr. Kimmy Ng who is working on understanding microplastics and how they may be contributing to changes in our microbiome and immune system that could potentially be contributing to young-onset colorectal cancer.
On behalf of Team Tara and all of the amazing nurses, doctors, research and medical scientists, faculty, trainees students, and staff of the BWH/DFCI, thank you for supporting my participation as part of Team Tara in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
