Celebrating 6 Bonus Years Thanks To Dana-Farber

We lost my dad to kidney cancer on May 14, and though his death was not unexpected, it has left a hole in our lives that will never be filled.

At the time of his diagnosis, dad's doctors at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute projected he had 2 to 5 years of life, but the cutting-edge science and skilled researchers of DFCI blessed him with 8 incredible years.

I like to say that dad was given 6 "bonus years" with us. In that time, he:

- refurbished a 26' Venture sailboat, learned to sail, and enjoyed countless adventures on the water

- attended my graduation from UMass Amherst

- walked me down the aisle and danced with me on my wedding day

- proudly watched my sister start a successful business

and so, so much more that I could never put into words.

I am participating in the 2021 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk: Your Way presented by Hyundai, to thank Dr. Toni Chouieri and the staff of Dana-Farber for giving my dad the time we didn't think he'd have.

When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and compassionate patient care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.

Thank you for supporting my Jimmy Fund Walk fundraising efforts.
