I am participating in the 2020 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk: Your Way to honor the memory of our daughter, Alison, who had been a patient of DFCI for nearly 10 years when she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia @ age 19 while a sophomore at Ithaca College. After successfully receiving treatment @ DFCI (Dr Wadleigh) she returned to college but unfortunately relapsed within the year and so received a stem cell bone marrow transplant (Dr Koreth/M. Cochrane, NP). She relapsed again the following year & received another bone marrow transplant, but she developed complications of GvHD (Dr LeBoeuf) which lead to Oxygen dependency & eventual ventilator dependency (Dr Weinhouse).
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s balance between cutting edge science & highly compassionate care. Alison always felt that she was the Captain of her team. She loved and respected the many caregivers that she encountered, but especially her 4 primary MDs & NP as well as the nurses in “clinic”, BWH, & ECP. Your support of Team SchnipperDipperDoodle will directly help the patients and families who face the many challenges of transplant & GvHD.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. We appreciate your participation and generosity. Together, we can conquer cancer!
