This September I will be walking in the 2019 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk on Team IBC.
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care.
This September will also be 4 years since my IBC diagnosis and I couldn’t have beat it without the support of my family, friends and my amazing care team at Dana Farber.
In 2017, Team IBC participated in the Jimmy Fund Walk for the first time and was recognized as Rookie of the Year for raising nearly $25k. Last year, Team IBC raised the bar by nearly reaching $35k. We want to make this year our best year yet, so we’re setting our sights on $50k.
Here are some of projects that last year's donations funded:
• Maintaining our IBC registries (we have two so far, and a third tumor banking registry is in the pipeline).
• Educating our patients and our community through our newsletters and annual patient forum.
• Providing funding to send tissue samples and facilitate research collaboration to continue the innovative laboratory investigation of IBC from various labs at DFCI and throughout the country.
• Continuing correlative (laboratory science) studies in IBC-directed clinical trials-currently multi-institutional trial for triple negative IBC and ER positive IBC, with work being done towards opening a HER2 positive study.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk!
