The picture above is of me and my daughter the day before I had the biopsy that would lead to my first cancer diagnosis in 2015. I would go on to have a second recurrence in 2017 that led to a craniotomy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy. I went to countless doctor appointments at Dana Farber, and had many tests and procedures. It was an extremely stressful time that was made better by the kindness, brilliance, and compassion of all the healthcare providers I worked with at DFCI. I am thankful to now be over 3 years in remission.
As much as I wish I had never been in the "cancer club," the treatments I had at DFCI and Brigham and Women's Hospital have meant getting to do so many things and learning not to take them for granted. I have watched my kids learn how to read, and grow up in so many ways; I have enjoyed spending time with my parents and sisters, who are my greatest supporters; I have taken many fun family vacations and had movie nights with my husband and kiddos; I continue to feel fulfilled in my career; I have cherished hanging out with friends whenever I can; and so much more. And, I owe it all to the doctors at Dana Farber.
As a way of saying "thank you" to those doctors, and to pay it forward to those who are yet to be diagnosed or are still fighting, I am participating in the 2021 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk: Your Way presented by Hyundai in October 2021.
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and compassionate patient care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my Jimmy Fund Walk fundraising efforts. Together, we can conquer cancer!
