I am participating in the 2022 Jimmy Fund Walk taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
I have been walking (or pushed in a stroller) since 2006, in loving memory of my nonna (grandmother), Angela and my grandpa, Alex. My grandpa was diagnosed with colon cancer and fought as hard as he could before losing his battle in November 2004. My nonna, a non-smoker, was diagnosed with lung cancer in April 2004 and fought for nearly 19 months before losing her battle in November 2005.
In September 2005 when my mom first learned about the Jimmy Fund Walk, she walked the whole 26 miles and promised her mom, my nonna, that she would continue to walk for her and the thousands of people who continuously fight every day and promised that she would not stop until there was a cure. The following year, my mom broke out the stroller and my brother and I took turns between being pushed and walking the 13.1 miles from Wellesley to Copley Square in Boston.
This year, my family and I will all be walking for a cure.
Everyone is affected by this terrible disease in some way and together we can find a cure, I hope you’ll consider donating!
