Originally our walk was planned to support my mother, Jeanne Segal Rees, however she passed on June 9th, 2023 due to complications from lung cancer. Sadly, we are now walking in her memory. We are pledging the donations made to our walk to the important research of Dr. Jacob Sands, my mother's thoracic oncologist.
Mom was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer in the summer of 2021. Due to Dr. Sands' and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's innovative and dedicated care my mother was able to live a meaningful and fulfilling two years. Using Chemo-therapy, immunotherapy and targeted treatments, my mom's quality of life was extended. She was able to take trips, knit, do crosswords, and most importantly, spend meaningful time with family. We are asking you to help support this very important care to existing patients, and to help find a cure for lung cancer by donating to our walk.
