I am walking for Dana-Farber Cancer Hospital in support of my Mom, Joan Bunnell, who has been fighting a courageous battle against a rare form of blood cancer called Multiple Myeloma. This cancer affects your healthy plasma cells, causing cancerous cells to grow out of control leading to a compromised immune system, weakening bones, and the inability to fight infections.
My mom has been fighting through the daily pain of bone tumors throughout her body, the negative side effects of the medications she is prescribed through her treatments, and much more. She has been visiting DFCI weekly with my Dad by her side, undergoing chemotherapy treatments, bone biopsies, a stem-cell collection, and more.
Her ability to push through the pain of this disease and smile through the fear of the unknown is a daily inspiration for everyone around her. She has only looked forward since her diagnosis and continues to amaze us with her strength. I am fundraising to raise awareness about this rare form of cancer and support the doctors and researchers at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as they continue to treat my Mom and many other patients in the fight against cancer.
I am participating in the 2022 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
When you make a gift to my Walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge research and compassionate patient care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my Jimmy Fund Walk fundraising efforts. Together, we can defy cancer!
