If you know me, you know this cause means so much to me. I have made it my life's mission to walk 26.2 miles every year in support of the loved ones in my life I have lost and in yours. I have committed to complete this walk every year as long as I am physical able to do so. I walk to remind everyone that this disease should not be forgotten and constant awareness has to be made in order to find a cure. There is too much in corporate America keeping a cure from those who really need it.
I walk to keep the memory alive of those who we had to say goodbye to, those who continue to fight and those that won the fight. I wear their name proudly and put their photos on my back, as I have theirs.
This years walk looks a little different. I am not able to go to Boston as scheduled. I have chosen to walk from my house in Rochester, NH to Portsmouth, NH. This presents a bunch of challenges as there are not specific places along the route set up for hydration and food, rest areas and the support of so many volunteers.
I want to thank everyone who donated in my quest to make even the smallest difference in the fight to find a cure and hopefully one day just walk because we no longer have to fight.
Thank you for your love and support.
Danielle Mackey.
