I am participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon(R) Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
I’ve lost so many people to cancer. People I loved so dearly - my dad, close friends. It was just something I came to accept. That was until cancer went after my friend’s son. I can’t accept that! Justin was just 16 when he was diagnosed with brain cancer in July 2017.
A year later, in 2018, I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer related to a genetic condition called Lynch Syndrome. People with LS are at high risk of developing colon cancer, endometrial cancer, gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer, brain cancer, skin cancer, kidney cancer....that explains all the cancer on my father’s side. Because I have Lynch Syndrome, my kids have a 50% chance of also having LS. I joined team Lynch Syndrome to raise awareness... I can’t help but feel I got off too easy.
Sadly Justin passed away on July 29, 2019 - just weeks after graduating from high school. He stole a piece of my heart with his bright smile and his incredible courage.
I walk for Justin ❤
I walk for my friend Mary, who like Justin, keeps smiling, inspiring and fighting❤
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
