In April, 2019, our son Brenton ran his first marathon in Canton, Ohio at the NFL Football Hall of Fame. We watched him start and we watched him finish about 5 hours later! We were not only impressed, but were inspired as well. We have run a few 5K's over the years, but knew we could not run much more than 5K, let alone a marathon.
When we got home, I looked for opportunities for us to walk a marathon and came across about 10 different walkable marathons, including the Jimmy Fund Boston Marathon® Walk. We vacationed in Boston a couple of years ago and enjoyed the city and all the history. Though it is 8 hours from home, the idea of a Marathon walk in Boston was appealing. The idea of supporting the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute made it a no-brainer..... So........
We are participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk helping the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute take steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
As you should know, we rarely ask for help in fundraising efforts, but we are asking that you support our Jimmy Fund Walk Marathon and directly support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support will not only help motivate our Boston Marathon® Walk, you will also help Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Cancer has touched our families and friends our entire lives. Any steps that we can take to help cure and eliminate cancer will help to make a better world for everyone.
Thank you for supporting our participation in the Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
p.s. Please considering joining our team and walking with us. The more steps we all take, the more we can help Dana-Farber find a cure!
