I am participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
As most of you know, my son Jake is a cancer survivor. Jake was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma at 19 months old. No parent wants to hear these words, but unfortunately I did hear them. He was very sick and intubated for more than 3 weeks in ICU enduring several rounds of chemotherapy to fight this awful disease. Jake's total protocol was a year with many hospital stays and wondering if he would make it through the night, a parent's worst nightmare. If it wasn't for the Jimmy Fund; the doctors who were amazing and caring, the nurses who became family and the child life specialists that helped to keep Jake's spirit up and smiling, I am not sure any of us would have made it. We still walk into the Jimmy Fund and they still remember us and greet us with a hug and a smile. So thank you for listening and hope you can help.
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
