My son, Michael, was diagnosed with Leukemia on November 22nd, 2018. Michael completed treatment on December 30th, 2020! Michael continues to be cancer free and is currently monitored by the Jimmy Fund every 4 months. Over the last 3-plus years, we have spent so many days at the Jimmy Fund. The Jimmy Fund isn't just a place where Michael got his treatment, gets his blood drawn, and gets monitored by his amazing doctors. It is a place where he can play (Sonic and Lego on the game system), it is a place where he can see his friends (that include many nurses, doctors and child life specialists), and it is a place that has supported my family during the hardest years of our lives.
Michael is now in 2nd grade. He is a very active 7 year old, and is growing like a weed! He loves playing Transformers and pretending with his brother, Lawrence. He also has an amazing and kind group of friends. He played soccer this fall and will be playing baseball and soccer this spring. I owe this "normal" to the Jimmy Fund, their life saving treatments, have allowed Michael to be an active, normal kid.
I am participating in the 2022 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
When you make a gift to my Walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge research and compassionate patient care. Thank you for supporting my Jimmy Fund Walk fundraising efforts. Together, we can defy cancer!
