I am participating in the 2020 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk: Your Way presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
This October 4 will be my second year walking in the Jimmy Fund Walk and although it will look and feel much different this year as we walk Atlantic Avenue in Westerly, Rhode Island - one of Kevin's personal hot spots due to sand and surf - the spirit of the walk will be alive as we celebrate Dana Farber and Kevin's continued journey in the fight against cancer.
In May 2019 Kevin was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma at the age of 27. As a young physical therapist and avid snowboarder on Mount Snow's team of riders, his world made an abrupt shift with his days filled with hospitals, chemotherapy, and uncertainty...until we arrived at Dana-Farber. The doctors gave us answers, direction, and hope for a future.
This. past year has been filled with weekly visits to Boston, more recently down to monthly visits. While we still have a year and a half to go in treatment, Kevin started back at work part time last week and continues to surf, hike and spend time with his family and friends as members of his "bubble". While COVID-19 has added another element to treatment procedures, DF continues to put his health first and we are forever grateful!
Join us in celebrating our halfway point in Kevin's treatment and year two of our walk for all patients facing a cancer diagnosis. While cancer has forever changed us, change can be an opportunity for growth and reflection about what priorities really carry value and longevity.
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer! GO KEVIN!
