Hey everyone. I'm participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk to help fight all types of cancers. Why? Well I will tell you a few of the reasons:
First, I survived cancer-- Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2011. I continue to give every month to the University of Minnesota (U of M) where I went through my cancer treatment, 6 months of Chemo. The U of M has a great medical team and is a top cancer research university.
Second, Friends and Family. I have walked and supported cancer causes for many years. I have lost friends to Breast cancer as well as, having both friends and family battle Breast cancer successfully. I walked for many years with a large supportive team in Washington DC with the Avon Walk. Unfortunately, the Avon Walk is no more, so what better place to raise money but through Boston's own Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber.
Third, Chloe Svolos. Chloe is my nephew Luke Baldwin's girlfriend. I call her my niece, as its just easier. Can you believe it; Chloe had the same type and stage of cancer as I had--Hodgkin's Lymphoma/Stage II. Chloe battled through her cancer journey in 2019. Way to go Chloe!!
Fourth, the people/community you meet when united in a cause; and let me tell you, fighting cancer and funding cancer research is a most deserving cause.
So here's the deal, when you make a gift to our team's walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. So what form does your support take??? That's up to you. We will take your financial support, your emotional support and your support for committing to raise awareness to our just cause. What's the cause again??? We want to conquer cancer! All cancer!!! No small task, but it's just a little smaller with your support.
