Almost 2 years ago, I received a call from my very good friend Karen that her then 5yr old son Nixon had been diagnosed with Leukemia. I visited Nixon in Hospital the night prior to his first Chemotherapy and that night, stayed with his older brother so that Mum and Dad could rest assured that both kids were safe.
At the same time of hearing the news of Nixon, my dear friend Megan was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Within a matter of weeks two families I care for were fighting for survival - because of cancer.
I have watched ever day of Nixon's fight and have seen the impact his illness has had on his entire family. Nixon is now coming to the end of his treatment and looks strong, but Leukemia has a high rate of relapse, so I'm doing whatever I can to promote research and awareness into Childhood Cancer.
I am participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer! Every dollar raised will be directed towards research and cure rates.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
