As a lifelong Red Sox fan I've supported the Jimmy Fund for many years. Recently, though my three best friends have had the lives of loved ones affected by cancer. I walk for them.
The Jimmy Fund was started in 1948 to raise money to buy a television set so a young cancer patient could watch Braves games while he was treated at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. When the Braves moved to Milwaukee, the Red Sox picked up the cause with the great Ted Williams leading the way. For many years the only advertisement inside Fenway Park was for the Jimmy Fund.
I am participating in the 2020 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk: Your Way presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
