For the first time, I will be taking part in the Jimmy Fund Walk on September 22nd in Boston. I am walking with one of my closest friends, Allison, whose father passed away earlier this year from complications treating a rare type of blood cancer. George received all of his treatments at Dana Farber including a stem cell transplant from his youngest brother, exactly one year ago this month. I kept in touch with George via email throughout his time in Boston and was able to see him in the hospital a month before he passed. I've never known anyone who tried to live as hard as George did. I'm blessed to have known him and I'll always miss him.
I decided to walk not only to support Allison but for all those who have lost a loved one too soon to this terrible disease. George was fortunate to receive treatments at one of the leading institutions in the world. I want to help raise funds for new research and treatments that work towards a cure.
When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge science and highly compassionate cancer care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
