October 3rd will mark my 7th walk for the Dana Farber/Jimmy Fund organization. I will be walking in memory of 2 great men who this year, both lost their battle with cancer. Bill Gately and Brian Sullivan were husbands, fathers, had smiles that lite up a room and were only 56 & 57. Bill was a longtime family friend and Brian was a fellow graduate from Wellesley Class of ’83.
While the efforts of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute have enabled many personal success stories for cancer patients around the world, the reality is that the hopes and prayers of countless others will just need more time for their individual successful outcomes to be realized.
This October, I will once again be walking 26.2 miles for the Dana Farber/Jimmy Fund Walk, to raise money and awareness that cancer continues to affect so many lives. Due to COVID-19 continued concerns however, I unfortunately, will be unable to walk the route of the Boston Marathon once again, so instead, I will be mapping my own 26.2-mile route around my local hometown and surrounding communities. It is my hope that next year I can once again walk the actual route.
I will walk with so many memories of those close friends and family we have lost and for those that continue to battle with hope of more success stories.
