In honor of Nancy Orlando, last year's "First Time Walker" award recipient, I am participating in the 2020 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk: "Your Way" as we come together, to continue to take the steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
Nancy, whom we lost in late 2019 to this faceless enemy (that has undoubtedly impacted us all), courageously participated in last year's walk, not allowing herself to be held down despite being in the late stages of her own battle. Nancy truly was one-of-a-kind. A genuine, warm-hearted, and zestful soul who we know looks down, watching over us and filling us with inspiration each and every day.
She will be doing so this year, smiling from ear to ear, as she cheers our team on, which includes her unborn but ever-growing first grandchild, whom her daughter Mikayla and I are so excited to bring into this world in November. There is no doubt Nancy played an immense part in lighting up our lives with the news of our little one on the way. This is what she wanted more than anything for Kal – thank you, Nan!
You will forever be in our hearts and as you continue to watch over us as only you can, you will see your grandchild grow into an individual modeled after you and your amazing soul.
So, for those, we’ve lost, and those who continue their fight, please consider giving to this amazing cause. When you make a gift to my walk (and there is no amount too small!), you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s highly compassionate cancer care using their cutting-edge technology in battling the disease.
Thank you for supporting my participation in this year's Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we will defeat cancer!
