A message from Abby’s parents:

“We are walking in memory of our youngest daughter Abigail. She was diagnosed in January 2019 with osteosarcoma and despite getting the best possible care at the Jimmy Fund Clinic she passed away in October at the age of 9. Abby was a very creative, spunky, spirited, and loving soul who had such a positive impact on so many people's lives. Throughout all of her many surgeries, procedures, tests and chemotherapies Abby never once complained. Her strength of character was nothing short of amazing! Even when she was faced with a form of leg amputation called a rotationplasty, she consistently had a positive outlook. She was always more concerned about other people and never wanted anyone to feel sorry for her.
After ever treatment Abby always bounced back quickly and truly lived life to the fullest. She brought so much joy to everyone around her and showed us how to truly live in the moment. Despite facing tremendous challenges Abby was able to remain optimistic, hopeful, and loving throughout her last ten months. One of her biggest strengths was that she never lost her sense of humor, always loving to make others smile and laugh. One of her only concerns when she found out that she was not going to be able to recover was that she didn't want her death to make everyone sad. Now we are all trying to keep her memory alive and live with the same selflessness and enthusiastic spirit with which she was able to.

Throughout Abby's illness we couldn't have asked for a better team of doctors to help us battle such a horrific disease. We were lucky enough to have access to the best possible care at the Jimmy Fund and Boston Children’s Hospital. The Jimmy Fund has such an amazing impact on the lives of their patients and their families. We have seen first hand how they go out of their way to know, support and offer comfort not only the sick children of all ages but also their families. Their extraordinary efforts set them far apart from any other health care facility. The staff at the Jimmy Fund Clinic and Children’s Hospital are some of the most heroic people we've ever met. These organizations have earned my family’s unending gratitude.”
