WHY I'M FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

I am participating in the 2020 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!  I will be walking 26.2 MILES VIRTUALLY on March 15, 2020 at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico!

The Bataan Memorial Death March is a challenging 26 mile march through the high desert terrain of the White Sands Missile Range.

My goal is to raise $5,000 for pediatric brain cancer research!

I will donate my $1,250, and will give another $1,250 once I get to $2,500!

When you make a gift to my walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Pediatric Low-Grade Astroscytoma (PLGA) Research Program. PLGAs are the most common pediatric brain tumor. There is no cure for PLGAs and most are inoperable.  First line chemotherapy for PLGAs is archaic, toxic, and ineffective, causing significant and permanent collateral damage to growing children. With scientific advances, accelerating research to find more effective targeted therapies is quite realistic.

Chickaroo is the nickname of my friend, Caroline Hamilton who was diagnosed with a PLGA in 2007. Discouraged with treatment options, her family and friends were compelled to make a difference. Since then -- Team Chickaroo has raised over $1M for the Jimmy Fund  to support PLGA research at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute through the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk,  Team Chickaroo Mom Prom, and the Jimmy Fund Chickaroo Classic! Thank you for supporting Team Chickaroo in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can conquer cancer!
