I am once again participating in the 2020 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk on Sunday October 4th, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer!
On October 3rd, my Mother will be gone 2 years - one day shy of our walk.
She fought cancer 3 times before it took her life. It is an unrelenting, horrible, despicable disease that strips those who fight it of their health, quality of life and energy. My Mom was as strong as an ox - she never gave up. Her positive attitude and will to live were heartwarming and yet sometimes heartbreaking. Watching and helping her through her treatments, hospital visits, doctors appointments, and bone marrow tests was life changing for my entire family. My Dad supported her unrelentlessly on a daily basis as a caregiver, and we did our best to do the same.
I cannot express my emotions when it comes to my Mom and the cancer that took her life, but I can try to make a change. This is why I walk... for my Mother, and all the other family members and friends who have battled or are currently battling this disease.
Any donation amount is greatly appreciated. I realize there are alot of great causes out there, and everyone has the ones that hit close to home. Dana Farber treated my Mother with respect and dignity, and gave us extra years with her that we might not have had otherwise. Kicking cancer's **s is my #1 priority.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can make a difference!
