Hey family and friends,
Thank you all for visiting my fundraising page! Thanks to the amazing Roger Dawley (who started this Jimmy Fund team), I will be walking with Emma’s Angels this year for the Jimmy Fund Walk! We will be walking in honor of our dearly missed friend Emma Hoffman. We unfortunately lost Emma a couple of years ago to glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer, when she was only 19 years old. Emma was an outgoing, incredibly talented, and genuinely kind person. She had the ability to make any person smile within seconds of meeting her. I am also walking for one of my best friends, Lauren Devine. Lauren was a contagious laugher, excellent hugger (so good, she'd knock you down most of the time), and the best person to sing along terribly to songs from the early 2000's with. Lauren aggressively battled a low grade glioblastoma for more than 10 years of her life, and passed away a year after Emma, after it progressed to glioblastoma multiforme. Lastly, I am walking for my many McAteer family members who have battled and beat various forms of cancer in the past. All of these people are the reason I became an RN and hopefully, one day, an oncology nurse. All of the funds raised for this walk will go to glioblastoma research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. As my friend Aisling wrote on her page, "Cancer is the worst, let’s beat it!" Thank you all for your donations and support.
If you are able, please consider also donating to the Emma Hofmann Memorial Fund, which awards scholarships to seniors at Emma’s school, Scituate High School. The fund also provides assistance to those in need in the South Shore area!:
