As many of you are aware, on May 10th of 2021, many lives were changed in an instant when my wife Mia (aka Milly) experienced a seizure that was later determined to be caused by a large tumor in her brain. Literally in an instant we went from no signs of anything wrong and Mia helping Carm get ready for school to Mia convulsing on our bed with her brain rebooting back to infancy (literally she was a baby in an adult’s body) every 45 minutes. I’ve told Milly countless times that that will always be the scariest day of my entire life, since I was there at her side trying to support her throughout all of it - each reboot, each doctor saying they either had no idea what was happening or saying things that didn’t seem to make sense… She doesn’t remember anything from that day because the seizures, but for me, it was by far the worst day of my life.
Then, when things were at their lowest, through a miracle involving a friend-of-a-friend relationship, we were connected to some of the best doctors in the entire world at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. I'm 100% sure that the introduction to those doctors is why my wife is alive today.
Milly was able to get her tumor removed due to the amazing skill of a neurosurgeon who studied at Yale and teaches brain surgery at Harvard, in an Operating theater that looked like the medical bay of the starship Enterprise. And she had top notch care during her radiation and chemo therapy as well. And of course, all this advanced care costs money, both to treat people, but also to research and develop all the technologies that allow these doctors to save people's lives multiple times per day.
So of course when the opportunity came up to participate in a Jimmy Fund fundraiser to help raise money to help support this amazing organization, I wanted to participate. And I'm hoping all of my friends will help me raise money for this amazing cause as well. I know it's a lot to ask and times are tight, but I implore you to donate as much as you're able, to help other families like ours in their time of greatest need.
