Right before Christmas my mom got diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer known as triple negative breast cancer. Since her diagnosis my mom has shown to be the absolute toughest woman I know. For the first few months after the diagnosis, Ultrasounds, biopsy’s, bone scans, CT scans seemed to take up a majority of her days. She had a bilateral mastectomy, lymph nodes removed and a port-a-cath placed in her upper chest. Then weekly chemotherapy treatments at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston and countless other appointments with doctors, surgeons and her oncology team.
We are now 9 months into my moms battle against breast cancer. Radiation starts asap. After her radiation treatments are completed she will need another surgery. Although my mothers fight continues, her bravery and attitude towards tackling breast cancer has been awe inspiring.
On October 2, 2022 I will be participating in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk with my mother and daughter in an effort to raise money for a cause that has become so near and dear to my family’s heart.
When you make a gift to my Walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge research and compassionate patient care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my Jimmy Fund Walk fundraising efforts. Together, we can defy cancer!
