Over the last couple of years my family has been effected by various forms of cancer, touching many members of my family and a year and a half ago I lost my mom to lung cancer at the age of 69. It was to soon and completely shocked and devastated our entire family. My mom was someone who was always there to help those in need, she had so much gernosity in her heart. She taught me the importance of community and being involved in things that give back. My moms battle with cancer was quick, only 5 months. To say those 5 months were the hardest months of my life is an understatement. She left 2 daughters both who have 2 young children. She loved her grandchildren so much. I am taking this journey on to honor my mom by doing something that gives back and helps further our steps to curing, understanding, and stoping cancer. It’s part of my journey to heal, feel connected, and make my mom proud.
I have chosen to walk a half marathon (13.1 miles) for this event. Please consider making a donation in honor of my mom and all those affected by cancer.
I am participating in the 2023 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, taking steps toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.
