As an employee of Dana Farber Cancer Institute, I am participating in the 2023 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk and plan to complete the half-marathon course with my lab.
I lost my dad, Jim Pitton, to a thirteen year battle with sarcoma in March 2023. While he had excellent care through Fred Hutch and UW Medicine in Seattle, most patients don't have access to the same opportunities. Dana Farber serves cancer patients across the country and especially from the Northeast, providing high quality care and experimental treatments that are only available at a few hospitals in the country.
In the Tothova lab, we research acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and its precursor disease, myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). AML is the most common adult acute leukemia, but still has limited treatment options. Through our work in the lab and on our clinical trial, we hope to provide new treatments and improve our patients' prognoses and qualities of life.
When you make a gift to my Walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge research and compassionate patient care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you for supporting my Jimmy Fund Walk fundraising efforts. Together, we can defy cancer!
