In September 2023, our 4-year-old son Jackson (Jax) was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
There are no words to describe hearing that your child has cancer; our world was shattered.
Jackson initially spent 32 days inpatient at Boston Children’s Hospital and endured numerous bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, needle pokes, blood transfusions as well as multiple chemotherapy treatments. He was successfully brought to remission by October, but must complete 2 full years of treatment at Dana Farber Cancer Institute to ensure the cancer doesn’t return.
We are completely in awe of Jackson’s bravery, resilience, and patience for all that he has to endure- he is our hero. We are proud of his twin brother Henry as well, whose unwavering support of Jackson has helped him immensely along his journey.
Last fall, the Jimmy Fund Walk fell during the time Jax was inpatient at Boston Children's Hospital during the first stage of his treatment. The children from the oncology floor came down to the bridge between Children's and Dana Farber to wave to the walkers at the start of the race; it was truly a special event. We knew at that moment we wanted to walk for the Jimmy Fund the following year.
The Jimmy Fund Clinic at Dana Farber Cancer Institute holds a special place in our heart. Every few weeks (and sometimes in between) we make the trek to Boston for treatment at the Jimmy Fund- the clinic within DFCI specializing in pediatric cancer. The clinic itself is welcoming, with many resources and activities for children and parents, but the staff makes it exceptional. We have received top notch care from all- nurses, doctors, clinical assistants, child life specialists, social workers, and staff.
Our team's funds will be specifically directed to the Pediatric Oncology Fund at Dana Farber.
