WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER
This is Team Katie Bleck's 22nd year walking for the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. We have changed our course and are now walking 6.5 miles from Boston College to Fenway Park. We welcome all past and future Team Katie Bleck walkers on October 1, 2023. The latest challenge for families of high school students faced with cancer treatment is the rising cost of higher education, especially in the Boston area. Higher tuition and rent, along with increased food, gas, and travel expenses, have added financial stress to these already burdened families. Our daughter, Katie, had a goal back in 2002, to provide scholarships to these patients, who typically have far greater financial need than the general public.
The Katie Bleck Scholarship Fund has provided 228 scholarships since its inception. We have been blessed with generous donations each year, and now award approximately ten $1,500 scholarships annually. Recently, the Katie Bleck Scholarship Fund has donated $12,000 each year to provide gas and grocery gift cards to families with children under treatment at the Jimmy Fund Clinic.
