Our journey with Dana Farber began when we received Rachel’s heart breaking diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer at 30 weeks pregnant with our 16 month old son at home.
This devastating news was something we could have never expected, and our world was turned upside down. However, we were immediately connected with the most caring, compassionate, and talented doctors, nurses, and caregivers in the world. We truly couldn’t have asked for better.
Our strong, beautiful and healthy baby girl Harper was born at 31 weeks on 8/5/22 at 3lbs 13 oz. After only 5 days in the NICU at Brigham and Women’s Hospital she was transferred to South Shore Hospital's Special Care Nursery for 23 days until coming home. She has been the happiest and most easy going baby, fitting perfectly into our family. We thank God for this special little girl every day.
Rachel being the warrior she is, began Chemotherapy just 2 weeks post-partum. Completing a total of 12 treatments, which she responded well to, and a successful whipple surgery in January of 2023. We are forever grateful to Rachel’s Oncologists and Surgery team for all the amazing work they have done. Special mention to Dr. Clancy, Dr. Wolpin, and Dr. Biller who were with us from the beginning.
Of course, when the opportunity presented itself to participate in the Dana-Farber walk Rachel jumped at the opportunity. Two months into chemotherapy treatment walking with my wife while pushing both of our babies across the finish line is something I will never forget. We look forward to participating in the walk and raising funds for Dana-Farber and our life saving team for years to come.
None of this would be possible without the help from this incredible organization and the strength of our amazing family and friends.
We are part of the Dana-Farber family for life and we are honored to be involved in such a noble cause.
