In January of 2019 our youngest daughter, Abigail, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. For the next ten months the Jimmy Fund and Children’s Hospital became our second home. Abby underwent over ten different chemo treatments and several surgeries, including a partial leg amputation called a rotationplasty. Through it all she never complained, never lost her wonderful sense of humor and never wanted anyone to feel sorry for her. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of her wonderful oncology team Abby lost her battle to osteosarcoma ten months after her initial diagnosis.
Abby had such a big heart, loved making people laugh, and was more concerned about other people’s feelings more than her own. We are now trying to honor her memory by doing what we can to raise awareness and fundraising for the Jimmy Fund. Cancer does not care how old you are and no one seems to want to talk about childhood cancer. Over 9,000 children under the age of 15 get diagnosed every year with some form of cancer. We know Abby would want us to do what we can to help other children and their families who are waging their own battles against childhood cancer.
We're asking for your help to make an impact and improve the lives of the many children who are dealing with this horrific disease. Every little bit helps, we would appreciate anything that you can give! Your support goes directly to Dana Faber Cancer Institute, 50% goes to patient care and 50% goes to cutting edge research. Our dream is that some day no child will have to know what it is to have cancer!
Thank you!
