If you knew Deena, you were lucky. Deena was the ultimate warrior. She dealt with Ovarian cancer for over 13 years. She had beaten it 5 times. Deena never ever complained, and many people never even knew she had cancer unless you knew her story. Over the course of those thirteen years, Deena endured chemo 3 different times, radiation once, 4 surgeries and a clinical trial for over 3 years. Even while sitting in a hospital room and facing all her battles, she radiated happiness and positivity. She brought hope and light to others who were fighting similar battles.
The light she brought to this world was unmatched. There is a huge hole left in all the hearts who loved Deena, but our hearts were made so full by knowing her. She taught us so much in her short time on this earth. She taught us what unconditional love was, how to persevere in the most challenging times, and above all, how to live life to the fullest.
This October, we will be walking for Deena. A day to keep her fighting spirit alive. A day when we can all come together and honor a life and legacy so beautifully lived. We walk for her and for all those who are fighting like she did for so many years.
Let’s do it for Deena!
