As many of you know, my personal battle with Cancer began more than five year ago in early 2018 with a shocking diagnosis of Stage 4 HR+ HER- breast cancer. When you hear those words for the first time, your whole world is just frozen in time and you end the “living without cancer” portion of your life and begin the “living with Cancer” portion. However, with the amazing work being done at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and with the help of The Jimmy Fund, I very quickly learned that there is hope out there, not just for myself but for the millions of others living with this disease. Advancements are being made on a daily basis so that myself and others have learned to live a life that is not only just a different type of “normal”, but one that is full of memories, daily joys and an abundance of hope! Therefore, 2023 will mark my second year in walking the 26.2 Mile Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk. Working together as a team, Michele’s Minions, we can ALL take steps toward a world without cancer!!❤
In doing this, “Michele’s Minions” walk not only on behalf of myself, but also for friends and family members that too have been touched by cancer.
I/we walk for my sister Dawn that was struck down by leukemia at the age of 19.
I/we walk for my father Michael who died of colon cancer at the age of 68.
I/we walk for my mother Eleanor who survived colon cancer at the age of 70 and lived until 90!
I/we walk for my sister-in-law Ann who bravely survived breast cancer as a young mother to two boys.
I/we walk for my father-in-law Rich who died of lung cancer at the age of 91.
I/we walk for April, Deborah, Auntie Dot, Anna, Scotty, Anne, Jim, Dan, Nana, and Scotty.
If you private message me, we would also be honored to walk for and carry your loved one in our hearts walk day.
Last year as a single walker, I was so overwhelmed with everyone’s generosity and met my personal goal of $5000.00. This year as a team, our sites are set even higher, with a team goal of $10,000. No donation is too little and each and every dollar is greatly appreciated. When you make a gift to our walk, you’re directly supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge research and compassionate patient care. Your support allows Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families.
Thank you in advance for your kind generosity in supporting our Jimmy Fund Walk fundraising efforts. Together, we can take the necessary steps to defy cancer!!
