WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

On October 1, Lorraine's Team will be walking a 5K through Boston as part of the Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai. Our team is making every step count toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.

Your support goes directly to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s unique 50-50 balance between cutting-edge research and compassionate patient care. Funds raised through the Jimmy Fund Walk enable Dana-Farber leaders to enhance programs and initiatives that serve pediatric and adult patients and their families. And more specifically, funds raised by Lorraine's Team will go toward ovarian cancer research in honor of Lorraine Harrington, who passed away from ovarian cancer in 2007.

Thank you for supporting our team in the Jimmy Fund Walk. Together, we can defy cancer!

Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer death among American women. In 2023, about 19,710 women will receive a new diagnosis of ovarian cancer and about 13,270 women will die from the disease. Unfortunately, most cases are diagnosed in later stages, when the prognosis is poor. However, if diagnosed and treated early, the five-year survival rate is over 90%.

If you or a loved one has ovarian cancer, the ovarian cancer team at the Susan F. Smith Center for Women's Cancers Gynecologic Oncology Program is here to help. The internationally recognized team of experts at the Susan F. Smith Center for Women's Cancers is dedicated to providing compassionate care and personalized diagnosis, treatment, and support all of our ovarian cancer patients and their loved ones.
