I appreciate that you are taking the time to read my story and help us raise funds for awareness and prevention for BRCA and Gynecologic Oncology. With your help, we can keep the candle burning for others.
Our team is walking the 2023 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. We truly appreciate any donation or help in raising awareness!
Your donation will directly fund the departments which have given me a new lease on life! Even if you are unable to donate, please help us to spread awareness in the hope that others might avoid this road. If someone does find themselves on a similar path, they need to know that there is always hope and there are wonderful, skilled and caring people out there to turn to.
I was graced with the gift of incredible Doctors; the blessing of a supportive family; and the healing prayers from an amazing group of friends.
Know your genetic BRCA status* and prepare accordingly *a simple blood or saliva test is all it takes. What is BRCA? When one has a BRCA gene mutation, damaged DNA may not be repaired properly. This puts people with a mutation at an increased risk for developing certain types of cancer. The saying “An ounce of prevention…” is truly applicable.
Had I known my BRCA genetic standing, I would have been able to take preventative measures and possibly avoid this situation all together.
