WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER

By participating in the 2023 Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai, our team is making every step count toward the ultimate finish line: a world without cancer.

We started The Mighty Quinn so that our family, friends, and colleagues can join us in this inspiring event. Will you join or support our walk?

Quinn was diagnosed with Wilms tumor in December 2021 when she was 21 months old. Wilms tumor is a type of kidney cancer that is diagnosed in approximately 500 children annually. It is not surprising that a lot of these children end up at the Jimmy Fund Clinic at Dana Farber.

Here we are a year and a half since Quinn’s diagnosis,. her hair is growing like crazy, she plays soccer, swims and goes to school and there is no evidence of disease seen on her scans. We are able to appreciate our cancer journey and how much it has changed us all. I am constantly reminded that access to pediatric cancer care and clinical trials are not a given for everyone.

Research and funding are why Wilms tumor is considered one of the successes of pediatric oncology and usually has a favorable outcome. We are benefiting immensely from other’s sacrifices. We feel the least we can do is help continue to fund the research and services the Jimmy Fund Clinic offers its patients so that hopefully some day every parent will hear the words “favorable outcome”.

As a member of the Mighty Quinn and the Jimmy Fund Walk community, you will have access to many resources and tools that will guide you in reaching and exceeding the $330 fundraising commitment. You will also receive training guides and tips!
