WHY WE'RE FUNDRAISING WITH THE JIMMY FUND WALK TO FIGHT CANCER
Our teams mindset is, “F%$@ CANCER, GET MONEY!”, and by “get money”, we mean raise funds to support the Jimmy Fund for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, an institution that is saving our mom’s life and countless other lives. When our mom/aunt/sister/friend, Faye, was diagnosed in March 2023 with stage 4 ovarian cancer, we were shocked and scared. But that soon went away when we met with her cancer care team at Dana Farber. Our moms diagnosis and severity of her symptoms didn’t allow her to go on her usual long walks where she would walk for miles in her chic clothes and heels. So, we’re going to walk in-style on October 1st to support her and many of our family and friends whose lives were impacted by their cancer diagnosis.
As Rumi said, “As you start to walk out on the way, the way appears.” We’re walking to support our cancer-fighting loved ones and to give them strength to keep battling through the fear of the unknowns and the new journey that lies ahead. Our team has experienced cancer in many different ways, both having loved ones diagnosed and ourselves also being diagnosed. Fighting cancer can’t be done alone. While family & friends are a key piece to defying cancer, one of the most important pieces is having a cancer care team that’s compassionate, caring and provides the latest cancer-fighting medicines.
