On August 5th, 2022, Emelie was diagnosed with Bilateral Wilms Tumors. The same day we received her diagnosis, she started chemo. She underwent 11 consecutive weeks of chemo to shrink the tumors on her kidneys before her surgery on November 1, 2022.
Her amazing team at Children's were able to save both of her kidneys, leaving her with 1/2 of the right and 2/3 of the left kidney.
Post surgery, her incredible team at Dana-Farber continued to treat her with an additional 5 rounds of chemo. Her last chemo treatment was February 7, 2023 and her port was removed on March 9, 2023.
Emelie returns to Dana-Farber on a monthly basis for bloodwork and exams in order to get the green light to continue her Cis-Ra. She loves going to the Jimmy Fund Clinic to see all of the smiling faces on the best staff in the world! She enjoys doing all of the fun crafts that change on a daily basis. The Jimmy Fund Clinic represents a place of fun and joy to Emme!
