The individuals on this team are walking for a variety of reasons. Some have lost a parent to cancer; others are honoring a survivor they love, and all are walking in memory of passionate repeat walker, Meli Castillo.
Meli joined Crushin' Carcinoma in 2018 after losing an aunt and cousin to cancer. Although she will not be walking beside us this year, her infectious enthusiasm and positivity will be forever etched in our hearts. Meli's absence has inspired new walkers to join our team and we're beyond grateful to have them because we know - there is power in numbers.
THIS YEAR 2,001,140 new cancer cases plus 611,720 cancer deaths are projected to occur in the United States. 1 in 3 people here will receive a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. These statistics are a harsh reminder that research is still needed to help find a cure, support is still necessary for those affected.
